KDC Supports Boxer Agit Kabayel Ahead of Title Fight

On the occasion of the upcoming WBC interim heavyweight title defense in Oberhausen, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, we at the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation extend our sincere message of support to Agit Kabayel.

As he prepares to step into the ring at the Rudolf Weber-Arena to defend his WBC interim title, Agit Kabayel represents not only sporting excellence, but also the visibility and dignity of the Kurdish people on the global stage. This event, organized by DAZN and Queensberry Promotions and broadcast worldwide, stands as a significant moment in his professional journey.

Agit Kabayel’s career has been shaped by discipline, perseverance, and a clear sense of identity. Born in Leverkusen in 1992 to parents from Northern Kurdistan, he has consistently affirmed that his achievements in sport are inseparable from his Kurdish heritage. His words, expressed following his capture of the WBC interim title in Riyadh, remain a powerful reflection of this conviction: “We are all one people. Not Kurds from Turkey, Syria, or Iran—just Kurds.”

His connection to the Kurdistan Region has been further reflected through his visit last year and his meetings with President Masoud Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

During his meeting with President Barzani in April 2025, Agit Kabayel presented his WBC championship belt as a symbolic gesture, underscoring the shared sense of responsibility and representation that transcends the sporting arena.

As a representative of a large segment of the Kurdish diaspora, we view Agit Kabayel’s presence at this level of international boxing as a source of collective pride. His journey highlights Kurdish talent, determination, and unity before a global audience.

We wish Agit Kabayel strength and success as he enters this important bout and reaffirm our respect for his achievements and his continued commitment to representing his identity with clarity and confidence.
