Resilient people of Kurdistan,
families of the proud victims of Anfal,
With profound sorrow, we commemorate the 38th anniversary of the beginning of the chain of brutal Anfal crimes, carried out in 1988 by the former Iraqi regime against the peace-loving people of Kurdistan.
During this barbaric campaign, more than 182,000 innocent civilians—including children, women, youth, and the elderly—were massacred solely because of their national identity.
The Anfal was not merely a military operation; it was a heinous plan aimed at erasing the roots and existence of our people. Its wounds remain deeply etched in the body of our homeland and the conscience of humanity to this day.
As the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC), on this painful occasion, we reaffirm the necessity for the Iraqi federal government to assume its legal and moral responsibilities in accordance with the rulings of the High Criminal Court, and to provide fair material and moral compensation to the families of the victims.
We, as the KDC, remain committed to continuing our efforts at the international level and within diplomatic platforms to ensure that this crime is recognized globally as genocide and to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.
Furthermore, we consider the search for the remains of the martyrs and their return to their ancestral lands a national and humanitarian duty of the highest priority.
We also reiterate that safeguarding the entity of the Kurdistan Region and the constitutional rights achieved through the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs can only be ensured through unity and solidarity among all political forces and parties. This unity is the sole guarantee for a peaceful and prosperous future for our generations.
Salute to the pure souls of the martyrs of Anfal and all martyrs of the Kurdish liberation path, and respect to the resilience of their proud families.
