A man in his 30s has been arrested in eastern France on suspicion of leading a human smuggling network that transported migrants from Turkey to France.
According to the website InfoMigrants, authorities in eastern France dismantled the smuggling network and apprehended its leader in the city of Épinal. The suspect, who is believed to have orchestrated a network smuggling Syrian migrants, was taken into custody in the same city.
Public Prosecutor Frédéric Nahon stated that the smuggler is believed to have facilitated the illegal entry of approximately 600 migrants from Turkey into France. The suspect is a Syrian national, and his trial is scheduled to begin on September 3, 2026.
