After several Kurdish organizations and Kurdish public figures, through the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC) in France, sent a letter to the President of France regarding the situation of the Kurds in Rojava (northeastern Syria), the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs issued an official response, expressing its support for all the rights of the Kurds of Rojava.
Today, Thursday, July 9, 2026, Abduljabbar Shahin, President of the Federation of Kurdish Associations in France, said in a statement to the KDC website:
“In response to all the oppression and injustice faced by the Kurds of Rojava at the hands of Syria’s new government, we, as the Federation, prepared a letter signed by several Kurdish associations, organizations, and prominent Kurdish figures, and addressed it to French President Emmanuel Macron.”
He further explained that the French President, through the country’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, sent an official reply stating that France is working to secure the rights of the Kurds in Rojava through Syria’s new constitution, so that all of their rights will be legally guaranteed. The response also emphasized that France has made significant efforts to maintain the ceasefire and to facilitate an agreement between the authorities in Rojava and the Syrian government.
