Nearly 1,000 Migrants Arrive in UK in PM Burnham’s First Week

Just one week after Andy Burnham assumed the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, nearly 1,000 irregular migrants have crossed the English Channel to reach British soil, sounding the first alarm for the new cabinet.

Citing GB News, the CNews website reported that the UK Home Office has released new statistics regarding migrant arrivals.

According to the Ministry’s data, 366 individuals crossed the English Channel illegally on July 23 alone. Of particular concern was the discovery that 165 of these individuals were crammed into a single small boat.

The previous day, at least 200 additional people reached the country via the same route.

Andy Burnham was appointed as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on July 20, 2026, following the formal resignation of Keir Starmer.

The issue of irregular migration remains one of Britain’s persistent crises.

Since the beginning of 2026, more than 13,500 irregular migrants have crossed the English Channel. This relentless wave of migration has placed immense pressure on government institutions and has become one of the most sensitive dossiers facing successive Prime Ministers as they seek a definitive, long-term solution.
