The Kurdistan Diaspora Women’s Federation held a significant meeting in Düsseldorf, Germany. The gathering, which included leadership from the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC) and a substantial number of female activists, is viewed as the cornerstone of a new phase aimed at empowering the role of Kurdish women within the social and civil spheres of the diaspora.
The meeting was presided over by Shirin Zaki, President of the Kurdistan Diaspora Women’s Federation. Attendees included Dr. Ismail Kamil, President of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation; Qaraman Osman, head of the office of Shifa Barzani (General Supervisor of the KDC); Harman Ahmed, Head of the KDC Media Office; Yad Amin, President of the Youth and Student Federation; along with the Federation’s Germany Committee and a group of prominent Kurdish women leaders.
During the meeting, Dr. Ismail Kamil underscored the importance of the Federation as the first internationally registered organisation for Kurdish women, pledging the full support of the KDC for its initiatives.
Meanwhile, Shirin Zaki outlined the Federation’s objectives and programs, while participants engaged in collaborative and detailed discussions regarding practical measures to strengthen women’s participation.
Reflecting on the significance of the meeting, Harman Ahmed, Head of the KDC Media Office, noted that the event was a major achievement in consolidating capabilities and exchanging valuable ideas among prominent women in the diaspora.
He stated, “The content of the meeting was dedicated to drafting a roadmap for women to operate more effectively within civil society.
Furthermore, the importance of this meeting lies in the strong coordination it has fostered among organizations and active women in Germany.”
The Kurdistan Diaspora Women’s Federation, operating as an affiliate of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC), works to unite Kurdish women across various European countries and the globe.
Its primary goals include preserving national identity, developing the talents of Kurdish women, and establishing an effective lobby to exert a positive influence within Western societies.
This meeting in Germany is part of a series of ongoing initiatives by the Federation to unify social and organizational discourse within the diaspora.
