The Kurdish Cultural Centre in Oslo is organising a large public commemoration to mark the 12th anniversary of the genocide against the Yazidi Kurds. The event will take place in front of the Norwegian Parliament as a tribute to the victims and an expression of solidarity with the survivors of this humanitarian tragedy.
The commemoration aims to honour those who lost their lives while reaffirming a message of unity against hatred, persecution, and oppression. It also serves as a call to the international community to continue supporting justice, accountability, and the protection of vulnerable communities from future atrocities.
The ceremony will be held on Monday, 3 August 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the square in front of the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget) in central Oslo.
The organisers emphasise that remembering the past is a fundamental step towards building a brighter future, safeguarding peace, and promoting justice for all.
Held under the theme “We Will Always Remember – Together We Stand, and We Will Never Forget,” the Kurdish Cultural Centre in Oslo calls on everyone to participate in this important event. Together, participants will raise the voice of the Yazidi Kurdish victims to the world and reaffirm the universal values of humanity, justice, and peaceful coexistence.
