Shifa Barzani, General Supervisor of the Kurdistani Diaspora at the Barzani Headquarters, held two important meetings with Austrian government and political officials in Vienna. The meetings emphasized strengthening ties between Kurdistani diaspora institutions and Austrian decision-making bodies, with the aim of better serving the Kurdistani diaspora and promoting human values.
On August 25, 2026, a delegation headed by Shifa Barzani, General Supervisor of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, and including Jbar Hajo, Director of the Vienna Academy for Education; Qahraman Osman, Director of Shifa Barzani’s Office; Kadar Jangir, President of the Kurdistani Diaspora Federation in Austria; and Stan Al-Ali, a member of the Federation’s Executive Committee, held two official meetings with Saya Ahmad, District Chair of Vienna’s 9th District, and Andreas Babler, Vice-Chancellor of Austria and leader of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ).
During the meetings, discussions focused on the situation of the Kurdistani diaspora in Austria and the progress it has achieved. The participants also discussed ways to further develop coordination and relations between Kurdish institutions and Austrian political parties and institutions.
Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue and mutual coordination, as well as establishing direct channels of communication to exchange views on various issues in a manner that serves the interests of the Kurdistan diaspora and further strengthens the values of democracy, human rights, and peaceful coexistence.
The meetings took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere, clearly reflecting the willingness of both sides to further develop their relations and expand cooperation and coordination across various fields.
