With hearts filled with profound sorrow, we received the news of the passing of the distinguished Kurdish activist and unwavering champion of the struggle for freedom, the former Mayor of Amed, the late Mehdi Zana.
Mehdi Zana was a symbol of Amed’s resistance and a courageous voice of our nation. He dedicated a lifetime of dignity and honour to serving the just cause of the Kurdish people.
The Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the renowned Kurdish activist Ms. Leyla Zana, as well as to the entire Zana family, his friends, and his comrades. On behalf of Kurdistanis throughout the diaspora, we share in their profound grief and sorrow at this great loss.
We pray to Almighty and Merciful God to grant this great man eternal peace in the highest reaches of Paradise and to bring patience, comfort, and solace to the hearts of his family, loved ones, and all those mourning his passing.
May his memory and legacy live on.
