Far-Right Parties Win State Elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany; Kurdish Candidate Secures a Seat in Parliament
The preliminary results of the regional elections in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt have been announced. According to the results, far-right parties emerged as the primary winners of the electoral process. Amidst intense political competition, Mamed Mohammed, running as the sole Kurdish candidate, succeeded in earning the trust of the voters and secured a parliamentary seat in the state legislature.
According to the published data, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party claimed first place by securing 44.5% of the votes, while the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) garnered 18.5%. The remaining votes were distributed among the other parties as follows:
The Left Party secured 9.5%, the Green Party received 9%, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) obtained 8%, the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance won 4.5%, and the Liberal Party managed to secure only 2% of the votes.
These results indicate a major political shift in this German state, as far-right parties have taken a significant lead, resulting in a considerable decline in votes for several traditional parties.
