Another official mother-tongue educational school has opened its doors in the Dutch city of Utrecht for Kurdish children residing in the area.
On Saturday, September 20, 2026, the second Kurdish language school, named the “Utrecht School,” was officially opened in the Netherlands. The inaugural event was attended by numerous students, parents, supervisors, and teachers.
This school operates under the umbrella of the International Federation of the Kurdish Language, which is affiliated with the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation. It was launched with the primary goal of developing and preserving the mother tongue by providing a suitable learning environment for Kurdish children in the Netherlands.
On the very first day of classes, students eagerly participated and joyfully began the journey of learning their mother tongue.
The establishment of this school marks yet another significant step toward strengthening the connection between the new generation of Kurds and their native language and culture.
It is worth noting that, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop mother-tongue education for Kurds in the diaspora, the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation—in close coordination with the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)—has launched a comprehensive mother-tongue teaching project. This initiative offers Kurdish children around the globe the opportunity to learn through both official physical schools and online platforms. The ultimate aim is to protect and foster the sacred Kurdish language for the children of Kurdish families residing in the diaspora.
