KDC Netherlands Hosts Information Session on EU Asylum

The  Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC) in Netherlands organised an information session regarding refugee policies and the future of Syrian refugees in the Netherlands.

On Saturday, KDC Netherlands hosted an information session in Rotterdam focused on the latest developments in asylum policy across the Netherlands and the European Union.

The meeting primarily centered around residence rights, the condition of Syrian Kurds, and the issue of their potential return to Syria.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness within the Kurdistani community regarding shifts in asylum policy and their potential impact on the lives and futures of refugees and their families.

The critical nature of this topic is underscored by official statistics. According to data submitted by the Dutch government to parliament in June 2026, as of April 1, 2026, there were 17,310 pending Syrian asylum applications and 76,200 Syrian refugees holding residence permits in the Netherlands. Among permit holders, 70,840 held temporary residence permits, while 5,360 possessed permanent status.
