Former U.S. diplomat Joe Wilson has voiced support for former President Donald Trump’s policy approach toward Iraq, emphasizing the need for stability and strategic engagement in the region. In a recent statement, Wilson highlighted the importance of disarming militias operating outside government control, noting that such groups undermine national security and governance.
Wilson also stressed the need for an independent judiciary in Iraq to strengthen the rule of law and combat corruption. He argued that a fair and impartial legal system is essential for rebuilding public trust and ensuring long-term political stability.
While backing Trump’s broad policy framework, Wilson emphasized that U.S. support should focus on empowering Iraqi institutions rather than direct intervention, highlighting a shift toward diplomacy, institution-building, and security reform.
