KDC: Preserving Mother Tongue Is Essential to Kurdish Survival

On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, observed on February 21st, the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation extends its profound congratulations to Kurds worldwide and reiterates its unwavering dedication to the fundamental principles of safeguarding our identity.

For our nation, the mother tongue transcends its function as a mere instrument of communication. It constitutes the foundational pillar of our cultural authenticity, the quintessence of our collective consciousness, and the ultimate guarantor of our enduring presence on the global stage.

The Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation approaches this critical matter with a deep sense of national and historical accountability. Consequently, we are resolutely committed to the preservation of our language and national identity within the diaspora and to the steadfast opposition of any pressures toward cultural assimilation.

We are unequivocally convinced that our viability as a distinct nation is directly contingent upon the vitality of our language. It is, therefore, our paramount duty to transmit this sacred heritage, in its most pristine form, to succeeding generations in exile.

On this day, we affirm our dedication to mobilizing all available resources to ensure the Kurdish language endures as a living presence within the homes and consciousness of every Kurd in the Diaspora. Our aspiration is to nurture future generations imbued with a Kurdish spirit and educated through their mother tongue, thereby ensuring they remain an integral and inseparable component of our nation.
