In Düsseldorf, Germany, the first congress of the Kurdistan Diaspora Writers’ Federation (KDWF) was held under the auspices of President Masoud Barzani and in the presence of Shifa Barzani, General Supervisor of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC).
In a democratic process that included writers from all four parts of Kurdistan as well as Red Kurdistan, the federation’s bylaws were approved, and a new nine-member executive board was elected to manage the organisation’s affairs.
During the congress, members engaged in detailed discussions regarding the federation’s bylaws, offering insights and proposals to enrich and organize the federation’s future activities.
The election process followed, with 49 congress members casting their votes.
To ensure a transparent and impartial process, a vote-counting committee was established with fair representation from all parts of Kurdistan and the Caucasus.
The committee members included Abbas Mande (Eastern Kurdistan), Majid Nuri (Southern Kurdistan), Sabri Rasul (Western Kurdistan), Fattah Timar (Northern Kurdistan), and Jaso Vezir (representing the Caucasus and Red Kurdistan).
Following the count, nine members secured their positions on the new executive board based on the number of votes received.
A significant and commendable highlight of this election was that the new board successfully reflects the diversity of Kurdish writers from the Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western parts of Kurdistan.
The individuals who earned the congress’s trust and were elected to the new executive board are: Serdar Jaf, Davan Yahya, Gawhar Mamo, Qadir Shiri, Wali Sabri, Abdullah Jundi, Baran Baravi, Omar Ismail, and Abdulbaqi Husseini.
Additionally, Yusra Zubair and Khailaza Rashid were elected as reserve members.
Holding this congress abroad is a significant strategic step toward consolidating the talents of Kurdish writers in the diaspora.
The KDWF aims to preserve the Kurdish language, culture, and heritage, and seeks to promote the just cause of the Kurdish people to the international community through literature and writing.
The participation of writers from all parts of Kurdistan, including Red Kurdistan, serves as a powerful national message of unity and the integration of diverse experiences.
Furthermore, the attendance of the General Supervisor of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC) underscores the ongoing support provided to the diaspora community, particularly to federations, associations, and centers worldwide.
This support ensures that national unity is preserved through cultural platforms and that the bridges of connection between Kurds in the diaspora and the homeland are further strengthened.
