12th Anniversary of the Yazidi Genocide Commemorated in Vienna

The Yazidi House in the Austrian capital, in coordination with the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC), held a special ceremony to mark the twelfth anniversary of the genocide against our Yazidi brothers and sisters.

The ceremony took place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Vienna, where attendees honored the memory of the victims of the genocide committed by ISIS terrorists.

The event was attended by Dr. Mustafa, Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Austria; the Iraqi Consul; several Austrian parliamentarians; and representatives of various humanitarian organizations.

Salim Aziz, head of the Yazidi House, told the official KDC website that, in addition to formal speeches, a documentary film was screened during the event.
The film depicted a portion of the hardships and the difficult days faced by the Yazidi community in the aftermath of the ISIS attack.

Aziz noted that during his address, he emphasized that the Yazidi community has faced a catastrophic tragedy following the ISIS onslaught.

He called upon Iraqi institutions and the international community to take more decisive steps to provide support and resolve the issues still plaguing the Yazidi people.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants paid their respects to the victims of the Yazidi genocide and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the rights of all ethnic and religious groups while standing united against violence and terrorism.
