Confederation Representative Meets with the President of Somaliland

The Head of the International Relations Office of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation met with the President of Somaliland and his high-level delegation, conveying warm greetings to President Masoud Barzani.

Mr. Kurd [Rahim Rashidi], Head of the International Relations Office of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, held a meeting in Washington with Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), President of Somaliland, during which he requested that warm greetings be conveyed to President Masoud Barzani.

During the visit, Rahim Rashidi held discussions with a high-ranking delegation, which included Yassin Haji Mahmoud Hir (Faratoon), Speaker of the House of Representatives; Abdirahman Tahir Aden (Bakal), Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Mohamed Yusuf Ali Ahmed, Minister of Defense; Osman Ibrahim Nur (Afgab), Minister of Transport and Road Development; Khadar Hussein Abdi, Minister of Presidential Affairs; Abdulqadir Eidleh, Chief of Presidential Staff; Abdulhalim Ibrahim Rijal, Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Agency; alongside several ministers and presidential advisors.

The discussions emphasized the right of oppressed nations to self-determination and the pursuit of independence, as well as mutual solidarity and support in this common struggle.

During the meeting, the strategic importance of Somaliland due to its proximity to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait—one of the primary international routes for trade and energy transit—was highlighted. It was noted that this geographical position could further enhance Somaliland’s role and significance in global geopolitical equations in the future. Furthermore, Houthi attacks, particularly those directed against Saudi Arabia, were evaluated; the attacks were condemned and interpreted as a step aimed at undermining international trade.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to maintaining ongoing communication and the exchange of views.
