On June 25, 2026, the annual Nations Cup match between the Kurdistan team and a team named Iraq took place, ending in a 6–1 victory for the Kurdistani Diaspora team.
The Kurdistan football team, founded by several young Kurdish residents of Finland and affiliated with the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation-Finland, defeated Iraq team—representing Iraq in the competition—in their first match of the 2026 TAT International Tournament for different nations in Finland.
