KDC Honours Anfal Victims at Netherlands Event

A representative of the Confederation participated in a ceremony commemorating the Anfal campaign and the genocide of the people of Kurdistan.
The event featured several speeches alongside the screening of a documentary film detailing the atrocities.

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Shukri Barwari attended the Anfal and Kurdish Genocide commemoration event in the Netherlands as the representative of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation.

The ceremony was organized by the KG Lobby Centre, with the participation of the International Federation of Kurdistan Diaspora Women, Dilawar Azhgayi (the Kurdistan Regional Government Representative in Brussels), and the Kurdistan Women’s Union.

The participation of the Confederation’s representative in this event serves as a renewed commitment to preserving national memory, supporting efforts to gain international recognition for the genocide, and strengthening central relations across Europe.

During the ceremony, several speeches were delivered, and a documentary film was shown regarding the brutal crimes committed by the former Iraqi regime.

Awreng Shaweys noted that the documentary, combined with the speeches and a fine arts exhibition, formed the heart of the commemoration of the Anfal and the genocide of the Kurdish people.
