Agit Kabayel Makes History as Official WBC World Heavyweight Champion

Agit Kabayel has officially been crowned the WBC World Heavyweight Champion, marking the greatest achievement of his professional boxing career and securing his place in the history books. Following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate the WBC heavyweight title, the World Boxing Council elevated the undefeated German-Kurdish boxer from interim champion to full world champion.

The emotional announcement was met with joy from Kabayel, who described the moment as the realization of a lifelong dream. His promotion comes after an outstanding run in the heavyweight division, where he captured the WBC Interim Heavyweight Championship by stopping Zhilei Zhang in 2025 before successfully defending the title against the previously unbeaten Damian Knyba in January 2026.

Kabayel remains undefeated as a professional with a perfect 27-0 record, earning victories over elite heavyweight contenders including Arslanbek Makhmudov, Frank Sanchez, Zhilei Zhang, and Damian Knyba. His relentless pressure, devastating body attacks, and disciplined boxing have established him as one of the world’s top heavyweights.

This achievement is historic not only for German boxing but also for the Kurdish people. Agit Kabayel becomes the first Kurdish boxer in history to be recognized as the WBC World Heavyweight Champion, a landmark accomplishment that has inspired millions of Kurds around the world. Proud of his Kurdish heritage, Kabayel has often spoken about his roots and dedicated major victories to the Kurdish people.

From European champion to undefeated world champion, Agit Kabayel’s journey is a story of determination, resilience, and excellence. His name now stands among heavyweight champions, and his historic success will be remembered as a milestone for both boxing and Kurdish sporting history.
