In an exclusive statement to the official website of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, prominent Kurdish artist Alan Arif revealed the details of a major collaborative project with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and several international arts centers. According to the artist, on September 25 in the Belgian capital, under the baton of conductor David Navarro, the diverse rhythms of Kurdish music will be presented in a symphonic style. Performing in traditional Kurdish attire, the event aims to deliver a message of peace and further introduce Kurdish civilization to the international community.
Continuing his statement to the KDC website, Arif explained that the September 25 concert will take place at 8:00 PM in Brussels. He will perform as a Kurdish soloist alongside the Qatar State Ensemble for Arabic Music. During the performance, authentic Badini, Hawrami, and Sorani melodies and rhythms will beautifully intertwine with the sounds of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra.
Arif also highlighted another significant milestone in his upcoming schedule. He announced that on October 27, a historic concert will be held at the prestigious Bozar hall in Brussels to mark the welcoming ceremony for the new Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In this grand performance, the Belgian Royal Orchestra will be joined by a choir of 80 to 90 opera singers. The event will seamlessly blend Kurdish and Irish music, serving as a powerful cultural and diplomatic message designed to resonate globally.
Regarding his future endeavors, Arif explained to the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation website that in early November, he will travel to Qatar upon official invitation to present the same production. Following this, he is scheduled to perform a concert at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt in February of next year, before eventually taking the project to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
In his concluding remarks, Arif called upon the Kurdistani diaspora in Belgium and across Europe to attend these events and support their nation’s art. He poignantly compared an artist to a flower: if it is not watered and nurtured, it will wither. Therefore, the presence and backing of the Kurdish public at such international gatherings are essential conditions for the global success of the Kurdish people’s artistic message.
Artist Alan Arif possesses over 30 years of artistic experience living in Germany, engaging in highly academic and professional work within the realm of global music. Showcasing Kurdish music in prestigious venues like Bozar and collaborating with international European orchestras represents a highly effective step in cultural diplomacy. Through art and music, the Kurdish diaspora and its civil society centers can significantly strengthen their national identity and elevate its recognition on the international stage.
