Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation Representative Meets with Global Spiritual Leader

The Head of International Relations of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation met in Washington with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the renowned Indian spiritual and humanitarian leader and founder of the Art of Living Foundation.

Mr. Kurd, Head of the International Relations Office of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, expressed his gratitude and appreciation, on behalf of the Confederation, for the warm reception he received. He also praised Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s humanitarian and peace-building efforts, particularly his visit to Erbil during the war against ISIS and his support and assistance to the Yazidis, who became victims of ISIS’s crimes and atrocities.

During another part of the meeting, Rahim Rashidi called on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, in light of his international standing and influence and within the framework of humanitarian values and human rights, to lend his voice and support to the rights and legitimate cause of the people of Kurdistan.

Rashidi also referred to a statement by President Barzani, who called on the communities of Kurdistan not to surrender to terrorism or abandon their homeland, saying: “Either we live together, or we die together.”

In response, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar expressed his pleasure at the meeting and conveyed his greetings and respect to President Barzani and the people of Kurdistan. He also highlighted the moral richness of the people of Kurdistan and their culture of peaceful coexistence, describing these qualities as highly important.

Rahim Rashidi also invited Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to visit Kurdistan once again, so that he could personally witness the security, stability, development, and reconstruction achieved in Kurdistan following the war against ISIS.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing and strengthening their relations and cooperation.
