On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the “Kurdish Women’s Voices: kurdish Sound Archive And Beyond” festival officially commences at the Café Oto venue in London, as part of the international Space 21 Festival.
This artistic event, described by renowned Kurdish artist and musician Hardi Kurda as a profound and impactful initiative, sheds light on the richest dimension of our cultural identity: the voices, songs, and oral histories of Kurdish women from all parts of Kurdistan.
For two days, the festival will serve as a spiritual and cultural bridge between the memories of the past and the new generation.
The program includes an exploration of historical recordings that have preserved the lived realities of Kurdish women, alongside open dialogues between researchers, archivists, and artists.
Furthermore, a collection of rare documents, photographs, and audio materials will be exhibited. Through various innovative performances, these ancient memories will be revitalized through the language of modern and contemporary music.
The goal of this initiative is not merely to showcase an old archive, but to create an authentic history in which Kurdish women themselves become the protagonists and narrators of their own stories, pain, and hopes.
Through a process of deep listening and by blending archival sources with avant-garde art, the festival works to ensure that the voices of Kurdish women remain powerful and vibrant within global cultural hubs, serving as a source of learning and research for future generations.
