As part of ongoing efforts to elevate the status of women and strengthen the solidarity of the Kurdish community abroad, a significant number of women’s organizations, civil society centers, and diaspora federations in Europe will hold a massive joint event on September 13, 2026, under the slogan: “Women are the Color of the World.”
This event represents a broad and diverse collaboration among various components of the Kurdish people. It will feature the participation of numerous prominent institutions and organizations from all four parts of Kurdistan, as well as the diaspora. Among the most notable participants are the Kurdistan Women’s Union, the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, the Kurdistan Women’s Union in Syria, the Kurdish-German Women’s Union, the Aachen Kurdish Center in Germany, the Zozan Association, the DIOF Organization, the Péri Association Against Violence Against Women, and the Alliance of Kurdish Women in Syria, alongside various Yezidi and cultural centers.
In addition to civil society centers and women’s rights advocates, several Kurdistani service, media, and business centers in Europe are participating as sponsors and partners to ensure the carnival’s success. These include GFB Security, the Rohevi Center, Maward Restaurant, Zaitoon Market, Video Ronahi, and various other brands. This strong backing reflects the collaborative spirit between the civil and economic sectors in supporting women’s causes.
The objective of this public gathering is to highlight the fundamental role of women in the development of society, promote cooperation among women’s organizations in the diaspora, and actively work to combat all forms of discrimination and violence against women.
In recent years, the Kurdish diaspora in European countries—particularly in Germany—has established an influential position in organizing the capabilities of civil society. Kurdish women in the diaspora have consistently been viewed as a bridge between preserving their national identity and integrating into modern European society. The historic efforts of women’s organizations in Southern and Western Kurdistan (Rojava), exemplified by the Kurdistan Women’s Union which boasts a long history dating back to 1952, have continuously served as a source of inspiration for cultivating female leaders across various fields.
Organizing such international events demonstrates the capability of Kurdish women to build influential social networks to confront the challenges of refugee life and adapting to new environments. At the same time, it sends a clear message to the global community that the Kurdish women’s movement is a pioneering and modern force that places peace, equality, and humanity at the absolute forefront of its mission.
