Dr. Goran Abdulla Zangana, a prominent physician and public health specialist, has been officially appointed as an Advisor and Supervisor of Specialist Physicians at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) in the United Kingdom.
According to an official letter issued by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on September 4, 2026, addressed to Dr. Goran Abdulla, he will assume the role of Supervisor of Specialist and Peer Physicians for a term of three years, continuing in the position until the end of September 2029.
In the letter, signed by Dr. Lesley Dawson, the Secretary of the College, deep appreciation and gratitude were expressed to Dr. Goran for taking on such a crucial professional responsibility at the national level in the UK.
Dr. Goran Abdulla expressed his immense joy at being appointed as an Advisor in such a historic and prestigious academic and medical institution, viewing it as a significant professional and scientific achievement on an international scale.
Dr. Goran Abdulla Zangana completed his early education and foundational medical training in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He later earned a Master’s degree in Health Policy in the United States through the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship program. He holds a PhD in Global Health from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in the UK and Edinburgh.
Currently, in addition to his clinical work as a Consultant in Emergency and General Medicine within the National Health Service (NHS) in Scotland, he serves as a supervisor for foreign medical graduates at NHS Lothian. He is also a Board Member of the global health systems organization, Health Systems Global (HSG). His appointment to this new, prestigious position reflects his high scientific standing and his exceptional ability in leading and developing medical professionals at both the UK and global levels.
