The Ashti Association, a member of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC), organized a ceremony to honor dozens of Kurdish students.
On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the Ashti Association held a special recognition ceremony in Ostend, Belgium, in an atmosphere of pride and appreciation for Kurdish students aged 6 to 18.
The event began with the Kurdish national anthem, “Ey Reqîb,” and was attended by more than 45 students together with their families, as well as numerous guests and members of the Kurdistani diaspora in Belgium. Among those in attendance were Mustafa Shakir, head of the Kurdistani Diaspora Brussels Centre, and journalist Dilgesh Rojbayani from Kurdistan TV.
During the ceremony, the Ashti Association presented each student with a certificate of recognition written in Kurdish, along with a gift in appreciation of their hard work throughout the academic year and to encourage them to continue striving for success.
The initiative reflects the Ashti Association’s belief that children and young people are the foundation of the future and are essential to building a generation that remains connected to its Kurdish identity and cultural heritage.
Presenting certificates in the Kurdish language also carries an important educational and cultural message, strengthening younger generations’ connection to their mother tongue and national identity while fostering pride in their culture and heritage among Kurds living abroad.
Parents and guests also expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting that it strengthens social bonds within the Kurdish diaspora and creates a positive environment for Kurdish children.
At the conclusion of the event, the Ashti Association thanked all the guests and participants and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to organize cultural and educational activities that promote and strengthen Kurdish identity.
