Kurdistan Foundation Launches National Flag Campaign

In preparation for September 1st, which is recognized as Flag Honoring Day, the Kurdistan Foundation has launched a widespread national campaign starting in the city of Sulaymaniyah and extending across all of Kurdistan.

The initiative kicked off with the raising of hundreds of Kurdistan flags and the playing of several national anthems, emphasizing that the flag serves as a symbol of unity and a tribute of loyalty to the blood of the martyrs.

The Kurdistan Foundation’s flag campaign took place in the courtyard of the Sulaimani Governorate building, attended by the Governor of Sulaymaniyah, Dr. Haval Abubaker.
During the ceremony, which opened with the singing of the Kurdish national anthem “Ey Reqib,” the Governor delivered a speech highlighting the significance of this national symbol.

He stated that the Kurdistan flag is the essential unifying factor upon which everyone agrees.

Governor Abubaker further noted that the flag is deeply intertwined with the sacrifices and blood of the martyrs, representing the profound history and past of the Kurdish people.

Simultaneously, the Kurdistan Foundation announced that as part of this campaign, they will be distributing 1,200 Kurdistan flags as gifts across the cities of Erbil and Sulaimani. This effort aims to further revive the national spirit among citizens.

According to the slogans raised by the Kurdistan Foundation during this initiative, raising the flag is not merely a simple ceremony; rather, it is a renewal of the pledge of loyalty to the martyrs and a clear symbol of a future filled with hope and freedom for the people of Kurdistan.

Every year in the Kurdistan Region, both officially and publicly, great importance is placed on national symbols, with the flag standing above them all. While September 1st is officially designated as Flag Honoring Day, the Kurdistan Foundation’s decision to launch the activities early underscores the importance civil society organizations place on strengthening national identity and safeguarding the achievements secured by the blood of thousands of martyrs.

By serving as the first stop for this campaign, Sulaymaniyah has once again reaffirmed the message of unity and the shared destiny of all cities across Kurdistan.
