Today, Monday, August 3, 2026, a memorial ceremony commemorating the Yazidi Kurdish Genocide was held in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, under the leadership of Dr. Ismail Kamil, President of the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC). The event was also attended by Shermin Bozerslan, Vice President of the KDC, and Kovan Amedi, a member of the KDC’s Executive Committee.
The ceremony was organized by the Kurdistani Diaspora Center – Sweden in cooperation with the Federation of Kurdish Associations. It brought together officials from Kurdish institutions, representatives, and members of the Kurdish community.
As part of the commemoration, participants emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the victims of the Yazidi Genocide. They also reaffirmed the need to continue efforts to raise international awareness of this historic atrocity and to achieve justice for the victims and survivors of the genocide.
The anniversary of August 3 is regarded as one of the most significant dates in the modern history of Kurdistan. Each year, it is commemorated by the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC) to preserve the memory of the genocide and to ensure that the call for justice for its victims continues to be heard.
