The Kurdistani Diaspora Centre in Belgium organized a cultural gathering for Kurdish writer, journalist, and artist Hamid Mustafa Urmia, during which several of his books were introduced.
On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the Kurdistani Diaspora Centre in Belgium, in cooperation with the Hêvî Association, held a literary and artistic event in the city of Leuven in honor of writer, artist, and journalist Hamid Mustafa Urmia. During the event, four of his books were presented to the audience.
At the beginning of the program, Nask Nasiri, representing the Centre, warmly welcomed the guests and attendees and thanked them for their participation.
Following this, Lecturer Rahimo delivered a concise yet insightful speech highlighting the life, character, and literary and artistic journey of Hamid Mustafa Urmia. In his address, he discussed various aspects of the author’s life and works, emphasizing his contributions to literature, the arts, and journalism.
Another part of the event featured a short video in which several artists and close friends of Hamid Mustafa Urmia shared congratulatory messages and expressions of appreciation, commending his literary and artistic achievements and dedication.
The gathering continued with an open dialogue and discussion session, during which attendees actively participated through questions and answers. This segment provided an excellent opportunity for the audience to gain a deeper understanding of Hamid Mustafa Urmia’s experiences, ideas, and body of work.
In addition to his writing, Hamid Mustafa Urmia is also active in the fields of music and journalism and has established a distinguished multidisciplinary cultural and artistic career. His family is likewise closely connected to Kurdish art and culture. His wife, Maryam, is a talented designer with a particular gift in clothing and fashion design. Their son and daughter are both gifted singers with clear, expressive voices and have demonstrated remarkable talent, especially in performing Kurdish folk music.
At the conclusion of the event, the organizers presented Hamid Mustafa Urmia with a commemorative olive-tree plaque and a bouquet of flowers as tokens of appreciation and recognition for his contributions.
